Subfeed Settings

The Subfeed settings work the same way as the corresponding ones on the top-level feeds. Since these are subfeeds, they don't change what you see on the front page (except HTML tags and article time/dates), just what happens when you tap a headline on an aggregated article from this subfeed.

Appearance Tab

Headline Color

Sets the text color of the headlines on the front page, for this subfeed only. If set to App Default, the default color from the Global Settings page is used, otherwise this setting overrides the application default color. If set to System then the system text color is used, which depends on the color theme multiFEED is set to use. You can pick a text color from the predefined ones in this list, or make your own by choosing Custom and using the color sliders that appear.

Each feed in an aggregate can be assigned a different text color on the front page, making it easy to determine which subfeed the article is from before opening it.

Strip Headline HTML Tags

Same as the top-level feed setting but for the subfeed.

Article Body

Same as the top-level feed setting but for the subfeed. If subfeeds in an aggregate have different values for this setting, the action when taken when an article headline is tapped will depend on which subfeed it comes from.

QuickView Autozoom

Same as the top-level feed setting but for the subfeed.

Auto-Refresh

Same as the top-level feed setting but for the subfeed.

Refresh Interval

Same as the top-level feed setting but for the subfeed. Note that refresh intervals for subfeeds in an aggregate are not synchronized, even if the interval is the same. Each feed maintains its own countdown timer till the next refresh, and differences in load time from the various feeds means they will gradually drift apart. Front page refreshing is dependent on the top-level feed's refresh interval. At that time all the articles from all the subfeeds are combined into one list, regardless of where in its refresh cycle each subfeed is.

QuickView UserAgent

Same as the top-level feed setting but for the subfeed. If subfeeds in an aggregate have different values for this setting, the action when taken when an article headline is tapped will depend on which subfeed it comes from.

pubDate Transform

Both the RSS and Atom standards define the format of all dates used in the feed, but some publishers insist on creating their own formats, despite the problems this creates for readers like multiFEED. When it encounters a date in a feed, multiFEED first tries to read it using the standard format for the feed type (RFC822 for RSS or RFC3339 for Atom). If the date can't be read this way, multiFEED will try multiple format variations which have been encountered in the wild. In the case of an Atom feed, some publishers illegally use RFC822 formatted dates, so multiFEED will try to read the date this way too. If none of these methods work the date will be invalid and will display incorrectly on screen, usually with a negative year value.

Before version 2.8.0, there was no way for multiFEED to understand incorrectly formatted dates like this, but now it is possible to transform the date from the feed into a valid date string on the fly. The choices for this setting are:

When pubDate transformation is enabled, two additional fields are displayed where you enter the regular expression match string and transformation string.

Feed Time Zone

Same as the top-level feed setting but for the subfeed. The UTC offset correction for each subfeed is applied when it is refreshed from the feed server, so as long as you get the correction right for each one all the articles in the aggregate should be sorted properly relative to the other subfeeds.

URL Substitution

Same as the top-level feed setting but for the subfeed. If subfeeds in an aggregate have different values for this setting, the action when taken when an article headline is tapped will depend on which subfeed it comes from.

Default Notebook

Same as the top-level feed setting but for the subfeed.

Tags

Same as the top-level feed setting but for the subfeed.

Warning: While it is possible to save an article to the Remember app using the Share buttons, doing so will not attach any tags set here, even if the notebook type supports them. For this reason it is recommended to always use the Remember buttons when saving an article to a Remember note.

Include Global Tags

Same as the top-level feed setting but for the subfeed.

Show Errors (in Hub)

Same as the top-level feed setting but for the subfeed.
